While reading a blog today I came across this quote and thought it was a great one...not to mention challenging. What do you think? Can a person be too comfortable? Are you too comfortable? I think comfort is many people's goal so if comfort is not one's goal what is?
"Remember comfort is the breeding ground for complacency and complacency only leads to a critical spirit."

I think it's the reason many people stay at bad jobs or in bad marriages, because while they may not be happy, they know what to expect from the situation. (I can certainly understand the bad job part of that since I did it for way too long.) If you're pushing the boundaries beyond that comfort zone, then your life has the potential for unexpected surprises. But I think there needs to be a happy balance between the two extremes, because really, being comfortable...in your life, in your skin, in your relationships...can also be a wonderful thing.
I know, that at least in my job as a teacher (and a mom) when I became complacent, and stopped growing, I was moody, I was irritated, I didn't feel effective, productive, or valuable.
I think many times we apply this philosophy in our careers and not in our families. And that, I know, is a fatal mistake.
Well said. Good words to live by. Thanks for bringing it to light.
